Beach Safety & Rules
Beaches are fantastic places to get away, and it's important to respect rules and regulations that keep them a welcoming place for everyone.
Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEO) will be enforcing responsible enjoyment at Goderich’s Waterfront. Should you need MLEO’s assistance, please address your questions/concerns with the Officers on site or complete a By-Law Complaint Form
Rules & Regulations:
The following are prohibited at the Goderich Waterfront:
Please refer the Town's Parks and Facilities By-Law No. 98 of 2020 for additional information.
- Alcohol (refer to 20.17)
- Bikes on the boardwalk (refer to Parking By-Law No. 34 of 2025 Part IV 3. a))
- Smoking or vaping (refer to 10.6 and 10.7)
- Littering (refer to 16.1)
- Fires, see Barbecues and Fires in Parks (refer to 18.1)
- Charcoal barbeques, cooking devices and/or barbecues on the beach, only in signed grass areas and signed pavilion spaces. See Barbecues and Fires in Parks (refer to 17.1)
- Overnight stays or camping (refer to 5.3.1 and 18.10)
- Tents - except for sunshade or canopy tent which has an area of no more than 10 square meters, intended to provide shelter during a sporting event or other park activities, and such a tent is open on one or more sides. (refer to 18.11)
- Motorized vehicles on the beach or boardwalk (refer to 20.9)
- Launching or landing any motorized vessel from any Beach (refer to 5.3.7)
- Recreational vehicles and/or trailers of any type (refer to 18.12)
- Offering items for sale (refer to 18.4)
