Accessible Beach Equipment at Main Beach 

The Town of Goderich is proud to offer free use of accessible beach equipment to help residents and visitors enjoy the beach safely and comfortably. 

Available Equipment:

  • Waterwheels Floating Wheelchair
  • Beach Access Wheelchair (Non-Floating)
  • Accessible Modi-May Pathway (on the sand, leading to the water)

WaterWheels Floating Wheelchair:

The WaterWheels Flotating Wheelchair is designed to float in water and offers a unique beach and water experience for people with mobility needs.

  • Free daily bookings (May–September)
  • For adults and children
  • Harness included for safety
  • A support person is required to assist with the use
  • Must be picked up and returned to the Main Beach storage shed

Important Notes:

  • A Rental Agreement and Waiver must be signed before use
  • Users must be accompanied by a support person at all times
  • Lifejackets are required for non-swimmers
  • Do not use in unsafe weather or water conditions
  • The WaterWheels must remain at Main Beach

Beach Access Wheelchair (Non-Floatng) 

The Town of Goderich is proud to offer a non-floating beach access wheelchair, a lightweight, all-terrain wheelchair that provides easier access across sand, snow, or soft surfaces, another option to help residents and visitors enjoy the beach safely and comfortably.  

  • Weight capacity: 250 lbs
  • Free daily bookings (May–September)
  • Ideal for beach mobility (does not float)
  • Can be used in very shallow water with a support person
  • Must be picked up and returned to the Main Beach storage shed

Important Notes:

  • A Rental Agreement and Waiver must be signed before use
  • Return the Beach Access Chair to the storage shed when you are done using it, and lock the shed
  • The Beach Access Chair does not float; however, it allows the user access to the beach off the mobi-mat, and can be used in very shallow water with an attendant
  • Pick up the Beach Access Chair from the storage shed located at Main Beach
