Power Outage

The Town is currently experiencing a widespread power outage. Town officials are in contact with ERTH Power while hydro crews work to determine the cause. 

Please follow these immediate guidelines to stay safe:

For Residents:

• Keep fridge and freezer doors closed to preserve food and refrigerated medications. An unopened fridge keeps food cold for about 4 hours.
• Unplug major appliances and electronics to protect them from power surges when electricity returns.
• Never use charcoal grills or camp stoves indoors for heating or cooking due to carbon monoxide risks.
• Check on vulnerable neighbors, especially the elderly or those relying on medical equipment.

For Businesses:

• Activate backup generators safely if you have them. Ensure they are operated outside and away from windows.
• Secure your premises if you choose to close early.
• Disconnect sensitive IT equipment and servers to prevent data loss or damage from surges.

Traffic & Emergencies:

• Treat all dark traffic signals as four-way stops. Drive with extreme caution.
• Call emergency services ONLY for life-threatening emergencies. Please do not call emergency lines to report the outage or ask for updates.
