Ontario Grants Strengthen Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and Community Events in Goderich

The Province of Ontario, represented by Huron-Bruce MPP and Minister of Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson, awarded the following grants to the Town of Goderich on May 15, 2026:

$25,000 through the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel (MHS4PSP) for Fire Services Grant to provide specialized mental health services offered through Warrier Health for first responders and public safety personnel.

$15,980 through the Fire Protection Grant to acquire an in-station dryer for fire personnel bunker gear to ensure that every member is fitted with decontaminated, carcinogen-free gear for every call.

$48,711.36 through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG) to fund the purchase of 2 drones, 2 portable message boards/signs, and a one (1) year subscription to Voyent Alert (‘push’ notification system to provide information directly to residents regarding emergency situations, road and facility closures, and upcoming Town-led events. 

$19,996.00 through the Experience Ontario Grant to financially support the 2026 Goderich Salt and Harvest Festival.

Mayor Trevor Bazinet, Chief Administrative Officer, Janice Hallahan, Fire Services Manager/Fire Chief Jeff Wormington, Tourism Events and Marketing Coordinator, Andrew Bouck, and Doug Kellam from the Office of the Fire Marshal were present for the cheque presentations.
