The Town actively enforces the Animal Control By-Law, which prohibits, regulates, and licences certain animals.
All dog owners are required to licence their dog(s) within 15 days after becoming such owners and annually after that. To license a new dog, complete the Dog Tag Application Form. For annual renewals, you do not need to submit a new form—simply pay the annual dog tag fee using one of the payment methods listed below.
Dog tags are permanent tags and will remain the same each year. Payment is required annually, and a new tag will only be issued if the original is lost or damaged for an additional fee.
If your dog is no longer in your care, contact Town Hall to remove them from the program.
Important Deadlines:
- Purchase: Dog tags must be purchased by February 28th each year.
- Late Fee: A $20.00 late fee applies after February 28th.
- License Expiration: All licenses expire on December 31st each year.
For applications, dog tags will be mailed once payment is received.
