In 1977, the businesses of Downtown Goderich believed that to maintain a healthy downtown, the efforts of the community had to be pooled and the Goderich Business Improvement Area was formed. Over the last 30 years, the Goderich B.I.A. has worked diligently to promote and beautify its unique Courthouse Square and the streets, which radiate from it to form downtown Goderich.
The parameters of the Goderich B.I.A. are in the form a large square, which includes all commercial properties within the following streets:
● West side of Victoria Street
● North side of Elgin Avenue
● East side of Waterloo Street
● South side of Nelson Street
Vision
The Downtown Goderich BIA works to sustain a dynamic downtown neighbourhood for the benefit of the business and property owners, visitors and residents.
The Downtown Goderich BIA contributes to the vitality and sustainability of the area businesses by coordinating sector specific promotions and annual events, we sponsor advertising and marketing projects, and provide enhancements or improvements to municipally owned land, buildings or structures beyond that which is provided at the expense of the municipality.
Strategy
Downtown Goderich BIA takes a leadership role in supporting the business and property owners within the area, working in partnership with the Town of Goderich to maintain policies and bylaws applicable to the downtown core. Working alongside members of the community, Municipality and County the BIA board endeavours to focus on a centred and collaborative approach for the benefit of all stakeholders.
