Waterfront Parking and Parking Tickets:

The entire waterfront has enforced paid parking to ensure order and safety for vehicles, pedestrians, and residents.

Parking Details:

  • Hours of Paid Parking: Parking fees apply daily from 9 AM to 5 PM from May 15 to October 15.
  • Rates:
    • Hourly: $6.00
    • Daily: $30.00
    • Season Permit: $65.00 + HST (valid for one vehicle)
  • Resident Permits: Two free permits available with proof of residency; additional permits are $25.00 + HST.

Parking Payment Options:

  • Payment Methods: Use the parking machines at the waterfront. Enter your licence plate number to pay. The machine tracks your payment and gives you a receipt. Machines are available at multiple spots along the waterfront.
    • The parking machines accept:
      • Coins: Quarters, loonies, toonies (exact change)
      • Contact Payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Debit
      • Contactless Options: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac Flash, ApplePay, AndroidPay
      • Online Payment: Use the Passport Canada Parking App with Zone Number 20804. Visit the Passport Canada website or download the app from the App Store or Google Play.

Terms:

  • All parking fees are non-refundable.
  • Payment applies to all parking spots, including accessible parking spaces.
  • Veterans with a Veteran's licence plate are exempt from paid parking.

Have a Parking Ticket? Pay Your Parking Ticket Online:

  • Fast, secure, and available 24/7 for tickets issued within the last 30 days.
  • Note: After 30 days, the ticket cannot be paid online.
  • What You'll Need:
    • Ticket number
    • Vehicle licence plate number
    • Credit card details (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express)
    • A $2.75 non-refundable convenience fee applies per ticket.

Other Payment Options: 

1.  In-Person at Town Hall:

  • Visit during regular business hours.
  • Use the drop box for after-hours payments with a cheque made out to the Town of Goderich (no cash).
  • Address: 57 West Street, Goderich, Ontario, N7A 2K5

2.  By Mail:

  • Send your payment to Town Hall at the above address.

Other Options:

 Non-Resident - Get Your Waterfront Season Permit
Waterfront season permits are available for $65.00 + HST per vehicle, valid from May 15 to October 15, 7 days a week.

How to Buy Your Permit:

  1. Use the Portal: Register Online.
  2. Provide Vehicle Details: Enter your license plate number and vehicle information.
  3. Make Your Payment: Use a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express). Note: A $2.50 non-refundable convenience fee applies per transaction via Gtechna, our online payment provider.

Important Notes:

  • No paper permits are issued; your vehicle information is stored electronically in the Town’s system.
  • Permit fees are non-refundable.

Parking Portal

 Residents - Get Your Free Waterfront Parking Permit

Residents of Goderich can get two free waterfront parking permits per household with proof of residency. Register easily through our online portal. Once registered, your permits renew automatically each year.

How to Register for Your Free Permits:

  1. Create an Account: Register online through the Portal. 
  2. Add Vehicle Information:
    • Go to "Active Permits" and click "Add Permit."
    • Enter vehicle details in the pop-up and click "Add to Cart."
    • Repeat for your second vehicle.
  3. Proof of Residency:
    • Upload a photo showing proof of residency, like a driver's licence, property tax, or utility bill.
  4. Checkout:
    • On the "Buy Permit" screen, confirm zero cost, accept terms, and click "Buy."
    • Agree to Privacy and Terms if you agree to the terms. 

Approval Process:

  • You’ll receive three emails during the process:

    1. Account setup confirmation
    2. Account review status
    3. Permit approval notice
  • It may take up to 3 business days for approval. After approval, your vehicle can park at the waterfront. No paper permit needed; vehicle data is tracked electronically.

Keep Your Information Updated:

  • Update any vehicle changes via your account or by contacting Town Hall.

Additional Resident Permits:

  • Purchase extra permits for $25.00 + HST through the same portal with proof of residency.

Manual Registration:

  • Visit Town Hall or call 519-524-8344 for a manual registration form.

Parking Portal

Did You Lose Your Parking Ticket?

You will need to provide your licence plate number to Town Hall staff for the vehicle in violation to prevent a delay in processing your payment.

Do You Want To Dispute Your Parking Ticket

  • Request a Trial:
    • Sign the back of your ticket and deliver or mail it to Town Hall within 15 days of the infraction.
    • It will be forwarded for a trial at the Ontario Provincial Court of Justice.

Do You Have An Unpaid Parking Ticket?

Once you receive a Parking Ticket, you have 15 days to decide whether to pay or dispute the ticket.

  • After 15 Days:

    • You’ll get a Notice of Impending Conviction (NIC) in the mail, including a due date, reminding you about the unpaid ticket.
  • Missed Payment Deadline:

    • If you miss the NIC due date, your infraction is sent to the Provincial Offences Office (1 Courthouse Square, Goderich, ON) for collection.
    • At this point, the Town can no longer accept payment.
  • Next Steps:

    • Once your infraction is with the Provincial Offences Office, you will receive instructions directly from them regarding how to proceed.
