Meet Town Council

The Council of the Town of Goderich serves as its governing body, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and five Councillors. Residents elect the Mayor and Council members for a four-year term. The Council handles legislative and executive tasks, such as setting policies, enacting or amending by-laws, and addressing important issues.

Mayor's Role:

  • Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town and Head of Council
  • Leads and oversees council meetings
  • Provides leadership to the Council
  • Represents the town at official events
  • Performs duties as required by law

Council's Role:

  • Represents the community’s interests and welfare
  • Develops and evaluates town policies and programs
  • Decides on municipal services
  • Ensures proper administrative processes are followed
  • Implements Council's decisions
  • Maintains the town's financial stability
