Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

Ontario passed the "Safer Ontario Act," requiring every municipality to adopt a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.

Plan Development:

The CSWB Plan for Huron was created with all nine lower-tier municipalities and an Advisory Committee, including social and community organizations, school boards, health boards, police, and other local service providers.

Adoption and Priorities:

Adopted by Goderich Council in June 2021, the Plan focuses on these four priorities:

  1. Mental Health and Addictions
  2. Housing and Homelessness
  3. Domestic and Family Violence
  4. Community Safety and Security

Implementation:

An Oversight Committee ensures the Plan is implemented effectively. Collaboration across sectors like health, education, and social services is vital to solving complex social issues.
