After nearly three decades doing without, I am very happy to announce that the Port of Goderich will once again have public bus transportation linking us with the rest of the world!

Aboutown Transportation Ltd. is a regional bus line from London Ontario and after two years of discussions with us and with the Ministry of Transportation has obtained a license to operate public bus service from Goderich to London and Stratford and points in between with connections to Greyhound.

The service will begin this Friday, July 30, 2010.  Schedules, fares and information are attached.

Information will be posted around town, and schedules will be available on our website and on the Aboutown Transportation website www.aboutown.ca or by calling 1-888-666-5466.  Please call Aboutown for further information.

Thanks to the interest and enthusiasm of local business person, Bharat Patel... the local bus depot in Goderich will be located at Coffee Culture, 58 Courthouse Square at the corner of Courthouse Square and Montreal Street.

We were fortunate in the earlier stages to receive over 450 names on a petition of local citizens who were enthused about the possiblity of a bus service.

Not only will bus service be of a great benefit to the citizens of the area to get from point A to point B, it will also make the Port of Goderich more accessible to the travelling public.

It has been a long time in the making and there has been much interest. It is imperative however that the service now be used.

I would like to thank Council, especially Councillor Myles Murdock for making this a priority of the Community Development Partnership Committee and for allowing me to pursue it.  I am sure that it will be a benefit to our community.

Please check our website and Aboutown Transportation's website for schedules and fares.

Flyers will be distributed as soon as possible.  If you are a local business, we would definitely appreciate if you would help with this distribution.

This service will only be as good as we all make it!

Bob Marshall.
